Joshua Ulrich grew up in a musical family and was inspired to play the violin from a very early age through the television program “Sesame Street”. After years of destroying plastic violins, Joshua finally began studying the violin at the age of 8 with Liesel Soley.  After only two years of study, he joined his first ensemble, the Lied Trio, which fostered a love for chamber music that endures today.  In high school, Joshua had many opportunities both individually and with the Lied Trio including performing at the renowned Edinburgh Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland and playing on the BBC alongside Garrison Keeler.

After high school, Joshua began his long tenure at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.  He has completed both a Bachelors Degree and an Artist Diploma and is now completing a Masters Degree all under the tutelage of Dr. Won-Bin Yim.  During his Bachelors Degree, Joshua was fortunate to study under celebrated violin pedagogue Dorothy Delay.  Joshua has also studied with Martin Beaver, Joel Smirnoff, and Igor Ozim.  Joshua has also participated in master classes given by Cho-Liang Lin, Chee-Yun, and Miriam Fried.
