Trio Lunaire
Trio Lunaire was established in the autumn of 2004 at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).  The ensemble is composed of Sujung Cho, Joshua Ulrich, and Aaron Ludwig.  After early success in Trio Lunaire's first competition (the CCM Chamber Music Competition), the Trio continued on their successful path.  The following competition season found Trio Lunaire traveling across the country to the finals of the renowned Coleman Chamber Music Competition (Pasadena, CA), the semi-finals of the Plowman Chamber Music Competition (Columbia, MO), and the semi-finals of Fischoff Chamber Music Competition (South Bend, IN).
Most recently, Trio Lunaire traveled to Munich, Germany to compete in ARD Munich International Music competition, a most prestigious international competition.
In the summer of 2006, Awadagin Pratt invited Trio Lunaire to the Next Generation Music Festival in Pennsylvania.   As the designated apprentice chamber group, Trio Lunaire had the great opportunity to work closely with world-class artists such as Martin Beaver, Rachel Barton Pine, and Awadagin Pratt.  After Dick Strauser (Music Director of WITF FM 89.5 Classical Music Radio Station) heard Trio Lunaire perform Mozart at the Next Generation Music Festival, he wrote “these young performers present Mozart with a maturity beyond the number of years they’ve been playing together,” and “one of their strong points is their clear intonation.”  In addition to their own performances at the festival, Trio Lunaire collaborated with Martin Beaver, Rachel Barton Pine, and Awadagin Pratt.
In 2006-2007, Trio Lunaire continued to find success. Trio Lunaire competed in the state and regional competition of the Music Teacher’s National Association Chamber Music Competition.  After winning both competitions in Ohio and then in Michigan, Trio Lunaire headed to Toronto to represent their region in the national Competition.  In the final leg of the competition in Toronto, Trio Lunaire took home the second prize.
In addition to preparing the long list of repertoire for ARD Munich this summer, Trio Lunaire will also find time for performances.  In the month of June, Trio Lunaire will be a resident of the Shouse Institute, at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival performing alongside a myriad of great artists.
Trio Lunaire has received great support and inspiration from its many teachers and coaches including Awadagin Pratt, Sandra Rivers, Lee Fiser, William Grubb, Won-Bin Yim, James Tocco, Martin Beaver and Yehuda Hanani.  Trio Lunaire has appeared in master classes with world-renowned artists including the Colorado String Quartet, Miro Quartet, the Antares Quartet, Cho-Liang Lin, and James Tocco.
